 Authentic Indian Butter Chicken Recipe

Butter Chicken is one of the most famous traditional dishes from North India. It is loved worldwide for its creamy tomato sauce, rich spices, and tender marinated chicken.

๐Ÿงพ Ingredients

  • 500g chicken breast (cubed)
  • ½ cup plain yogurt
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tsp ginger paste
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp turmeric
  • Salt to taste

For the sauce:

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 onion (finely chopped)
  • 2 cups tomato puree
  • ½  cup fresh cream
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp coriander
  •  ½ tsp chili powder

๐Ÿ‘ฉ‍๐Ÿณ Instruction 

  • Mix yogurt, lemon juice, garlic, ginger, spices and salt.

  • Add chicken and marinate for at least 1 hour.

  • Fry marinated chicken lightly until golden. Set aside.

  • In another pan, melt butter and sautรฉ onions until soft.

  • Add tomato puree and spices, simmer 10 minutes.

  • Add cream and chicken, cook 10 more minutes on low heat.

  • Serve hot with rice or naan bread.
